I'm sick of reading shit thats been dug up from years ago by a noob reading and replying to threads in the related search section.
I propose that after say 2 years without replys, threads should lock and for anyone wanting to revive them, a message as to why would be sent to admin for review.
Anyone else agree?

i tend to spot it straight away due to the blue text at the top of each post that says the date posted.

It does annoy everyone on here from time to time, I'm sure. But threads form years back often serve a purpose.
e.g. monitoring progress of cars, searching for answers to technical problems in help zone, having a laugh at the expense of the clown(s) from yesteryear etc... This wouldn't be possible with a 2 year cap.
Also, maybe, If people wanted to know how much it would cost for a C20XE conversion they wouldn't have to create a new thread every single time....

If I'm being honest, reading some of the past threads is one of the funniest things about this place.

What about people who have had cars for years and project threads, they would get deleted at the 2 year cap, wouldnt work. I dont see it as a major problem anyway.

It's not that... I quite often start reading and then about 3/4 pages into it and it's not making too much sense, I realise the dates are from 2004 or something shit
granted its hardly the end of the world, but just a thought. Maybe I worded myself wrong.. I'm not that pissed off about it, just make me think WTF

I like reading the old football threads where people have got their predictions badly wrong.

Easy solution, read the start date, realise it's old, click 'BACK' and think nothing of it.
Old threads maybe annoying, but threads by users moaning about something which they can easily prevent is annoying to others, although personally it doesn't bother me, I maybe just posting what others may think?

An 'old thread' indicator would make more sense.
The information shouldn't really date and if a thread is dug up and ends up being deleted that is actually a good thing as our older data is of better quality.

Agreed, the speculation on how teams seasons will unfold and the transfer threads etc can be quite interesting.
