seen anything like this before
http://www.trackscotland.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1152&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45

Obv i'm not sure on the pressure it was running, but it doesnt look tucked under like normal (softer walled) tyres. It just looks squished!

I assume we're looking at the front?
I can't really see much. Not a great pic.

the car will have a bit of downforce (rear wing looks bent, not sure if its supposed to be like that, or its just getting bent by the force) but not that much to just squish the car down on the tyres.
The other factor i suppose is the cornering force, but I thought that would have caused the tyre to try and tuck, fold under itself.

Oh yeah. I was assuming the car was braking, but obvisouly not. No brake lights.
Is the the bottom of duffus dip?
Judging by the ride height at the back, there is a lot of downforce acting upon the car.

Plus if he's coming out of a corner (he is right?) then he'll be on the gas shifting weight onto the back axle.

Adam, check out fairing shots from MotoGP.
Tyre technology squashed the outside ofthe rubber down, putting more rubber ont he tarmac.
Similar type of compound that compresses under load?
Like a Drag cars rear wheels under acceleration.
I know of it on a bike, dunno about cars though.....
But then again I never get why "tuners" use super low profile tyres, and "Racers" usse a thicker sidewall.... Myabe for this exact reason?

drag cars are a different thing all together - wrinkle wall tyres. They are designed to get out of shape and act like a spring

I was just talking about this today to my mate that was at Khill on sunday there. He said he went up to a car that had just come off the track or something and he could actually mould the tyres (888's) with his fingers!

yup... they get very very soft when they are hot
Out slicks are worse! When you're out on track the amount of shit they pickup (bury into them) if you stray of the clean lines is amazing. Then it all flies out later on... clatter bang in the arches/floor etc.
Our R32 normally has black skid marks all over it after events. Bits of flying rubber scudding off it
