It is an excessive speed when the limit is at most 70.

70 mph is overtaking speed. Not everyone is an angel, everyone speeds, but you got caught.

If it's over the speed limit of the road it's excessive speed, doesn't matter if you are overtaking or not.

As said though, 80 on your speedo won't have been much over 70.
You didn't know that though so were in excess of the limit.

If it's a genuine 80mph then yes, you will get done for speeding. 3 points & a £60 fine i think.

Firstly, are you on about a normal police van with a cam in the front? Or are you on about one that parks up, opens up the back and is specifically there to catch speeders?

If the former then you've nothing to worry about. If the latter than I expect you'll get a ticket in the post.

yes they can if they want to. my mate got done for doing 55 in a 60 in his van. thats 5mph over the limit. he got 3 points etc etc etc.

everyone speeds. people only complain when they get caught. if you didnt speed, you'd have nothing to complain about.
