really small thin wheels on a rally car just looks funny lol. I know its practical for snow/ice just looks funny thats all.

They minimise the surface area that is in contact with the ground to maximise grip in icey conditions.

They are thin so less surface area means more pressure on the ground which means more grip.
Think of it this way when walking over deep snow you use those wide shoe things to spread the weight so you don't dig in rallying is the opposite. yo
