Top Gear filmed Hammond racing one along the Liwa highways here at the weekend, 200 miles into the desert, around some of the worlds largest dunes.

To be screened in July so look out for it

Scenic wise, it will be something like this

I like the way in Abu Dhabi they build roads with a capacity far exceeding the use the road will ever get, whereas we work backwards way round in the UK, forcing rush hour traffic to commute on a single lane road lined either side with parked cars

Either way, yea that road is

Think about it real hard

When was our road/rail infrastructure put in place, and things built around it, hence leading to issues when trying to expand....

Now what about those who've only really recently joined the industrial world (say the last 50 years), and have infiniate amount of space to build, also using the most modern materials. Don't forget our road structure has been in place for a long time now.

I can assure you, in rush hour over there, the road (even though sometimes 6-7 lanes) have problems with the traffic.

Its the same in America, 7-8 lanes because they built them like that to start with. We built ours with 1-2 lanes, put houses either side, then people don't understand why we can't just "make the roads bigger"

Liam - Good shots, gussing its for this years TG. Obviously getting lots of shows done at once.

Wasn't May out there a few years back testing the Tampon shaped Bentley W12?

Building the road wouldn't be the hard part.

Keeping it from being covered everytime there is a sand storm would be a bitch. Immagine the sand-drifts you'd get.

Along the highways, within the main areas of population, we have trees planted either side to stops alot of sand coming onto the road.

Its not going to be easy to make the road stable though, the sand could move which would cause cracking of the road surely. Also, the sand blowing onto the road would be an absolute bitch
