I'd say the best budget tyres are Hankook tbh. Although I got 4 195/50 15 Toyo Proxes for £32 each so why not stretch the budget a few quid and get decent ones?

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Kuhmo's KU31 is meant to be pretty good for a budget tyre.

I never understand why people are willing to skimp on the only thing that keeps contact with the road?

People who end up in ditches because of cheap tyres can't drive.

Same as somebody above, I had a car with the cheapest of cheap tyres on it, I was told you can't get any cheaper.

I was never caught out because of them though and only once thought i'd end up in a ditch because of them and had to back off.

In conclusion, I wouldn't buy them myself, they weren't that bad though.

I'll be buying 2 budget tyres before too long.
Why would i want to spend more than my car cost on a new pair of boots for it?

This is true. Never again will I use cheap tyres after almost killing myself. I learned the hard way

I'm using Dunlop Sports at the moment. Last around 30k and pretty good grip. That's when i was doing maily motorway though. Will soon find out what they are like on country roads though

I've just fitted 2 Federals on the rear of my van - I spent ages reading reviews etc on almost every tyre up to around £80 per corner, and tbh the only thing that marked the Federals down as road noise - and they;re actually quieter than the old Goodyears I had

Nankangs I'd steer clear of, Kumho's also got pretty bad marks for wet conditions.
