the ecu shouldnt really just stop working unless it has been shroted out or somethink simliar. the crankshaft sensor could do though.

I've had a problem like that, turned out to be the crank sensor was on its way out. The car would run fine until it got warm, then it would just die.

But there are a multitude of sensors that could stop the engine from running if they fuck up. Best bet is to get a fault reader hooked up to it to see if it's a management problem.

plugs done
dizzy + cap + rota done
leads done
coil is new
wiring fine
chaging all the earths at mo to check this.
is there any way of checking the crank sensor or is it just bite the bullet and buy a new one. if this has gone why would this stop it sparking. and do they just go like that then thanks for all your ideas so far

yes they do just go like that and im not 100% sure how it works but the crank sensor has something to do with the sparking sequence or something like that so it would make it do what yours is doing, what about your coil amplifier unit?
