My initials are PW and I've seen a few plates about that I like the look of but will need some 'dodgy' spacing to look good.
e.g. T7 OPW spaced so it reads T7O PW.
What would happen if i get caught displaying plates like this? Is it just a fine or points as well? Cheers

I doubt most would notice really.
As long as you have a standard font/plate style, you should be fine

Why? Because my initials are PW not OPW and you can't buy a 'normally' spaced plate with just PW for less than a couple of grand whereas I can get an OPW one for about £250.

you will get away with it for a while then get pounded by the police a few times till one day you get pulled and they send you home with no plates on so they can send you messed arround ones to the dvla for consideration of confiscating the plate, happened to my mate with his bmw and it was a very slight modification on the plate

If you have a fairly new car, you could just get "PW51 AAA" for example

This thread reminded me of some lad who used to live up my road when I was a kid. He got caught having a wank by another lad at a sleepover and he earnded himself the nickname of public wanker, PW or Pee-dub as it later ended up as.
Sorry for that just haven't thought about it for years and it reminded me

so worst case scenario DVLA take the plate and documents from me? So £250 done the drain. No risk of fines or points I take it? If so then I'll take the gamble.
Neo - yeah it's a fairly new car so I could have a plate like that, but personally I think T70 PW looks a lot better than a new style PW plate.

A reg with PW prefix is less than £150, and you dont need it spaced illegally.
Could you not get the last 3 letters to spell something too ?

I heard you can get a fine for these plates, as you will have to have show plates on the car ( not legal ).

I assume you're talking about a PW09 0PW kind of plate.
Thats all very well if you have a car that allows a new format plate to be allocated to it.

Yeah he said he does so IMO would be better than having something which could get him pulled
and, £150 is here : http://www.newreg.co.uk/

Is that £150 all in or £150 then fees.
I wouldn't buy a registration anywhere other than the DVLA unless it was something special you couldn't get from them.

What John said. The £150, will be £150 plus fees (about £125 or so I think). The DVLA ones start at £250 all in.
