I know detailing has mixed reactions on here, so i thought i'd post my work up from today, just to show that a brand new car isn't always perfect. Just a copy and paste from my detailing world topic but thought some of you may appreciate it, and open your eyes a little to paint correction

Got the pleasure of working on this 09, 500 mile old Leon FR 550. The owner has only had it a week, but noticed alot of defects in the paint and asked me to see if I could help.

Processes used were.

APC on wheels, arches, and engine bay, all agitated with various brushes.
Car snow foamed including engine bay and left to dwell, pressure washed off.
2 bucket method with megs nxt wash.
Dried with megs waffle drying towel.
Bilt Hamber clay.
Menz 106fa and farecla soft finishing pad.
Poorboys EX-P sealant.
R222 concours look wax.
Megs Natural Shine on trims.
Megs Endurance on tyres.
Poorboys wheel sealant.
Megs fast glass.
Interior was just hoovered and Megs Natural Shine on plastics.

Think thats it...

How it was delivered

Residue from a dealer protection strip, lazy sods!

Some tea break reading was left in the car for me clearly!

Engine bay was particulary disgusting for a newly delivered car.

Obligitary snowfoam pic.

The car only had very minor swirls, as you'd expect from a new car (except the rear passenger door for some reason).

But the holograms all over the car was another story, clearly its been attacked by some pleb pre delivery.

A little test section to show the difference before and after, and the swirls on the rear door.

50/50 of the swirl removal

Rear bumper

And some afters, finally!

Thanks for looking, comments appreciated.

what are these cars like, really like exterior, but interior lets it down imo...tho i know there is a facelift coming this year sometime...as for dust, could it be the car being sat in compound due to it being made a while ago but only registered?

Nice work Martin.

It is shocking how poor the paintwork on some brand new cars are.

A while ago, my bro detailed a brand new Cayenne Turbo S (so about £90k worth of car), with 100 miles on the clock and the paint looked like this...

Yeah, the owner has only had the car a week from the dealer. It was like that when he picked it up from them. When he saw the car today his words were "thats what it should've looked like a week ago".

The whole car looks quite dull until you notice lots of nice little touches it has, even down to the textured finish on the dash.

Apparently it sat in a port somewhere for 3 months before delivery to the dealer, which would explain the mess of the bay, and also all the contamination on the top panels.

It makes you realise why people like vxrmarc don't let the dealer touch the cars when delivered. Had a look at that topic, always impressed by your brothers work.

Good work..

That seat looks like its been stood around for some time pre delivery.
The problem with 'New' cars is that quite often they arent new.. especially at the moment.. Good example of this is Touaregs.. We have had a load in to PDI, they are all going on 09 plates, but take one look at the chassis number and they are all on 8 chassis' ie mid 2007- mid 2008 build making some of the cars nearly 2 years old..
