what are peoples opinions on these?

anyone owned/driven one?

would you own one?

a good one can be picked up for around 8-9k now, are they worth their value?
are they easily tunable? what figures can be seen from a good remap

My dad had one. I drove it a few times, and it was a great car. I'd love to own one.

The only mod to his was a full system with a de-cat, and it had been rolling roaded @ 247 bhp. ITs quite a hike from the standard 212, but most RSs make more than 212 on the rollers.

They handle brilliantly.
I never even really found torque steer to be much of an issue.

I was never a huge fan of the interior as the seats weren't as good as they could have been, and they're a bit marmite (design-wise), but that kinda adds up to the charm of the car.

They will be a future classic, and they don't lose a lot of money. Although, i'm not 100% sure what the release of the S2RS is going to do to their prices.

Strange this thread should pop up -- had a long chat with a friend about these tonight. Completely pointless to mention that, but hey-ho.

very easilyu tuned, if you use the right bits, we see 400bhp from them now with standard management, very caperble cars, not to impressive in standard from IMO

Lovely cars, mate had one a few years ago when they came out. He used to spank my mk4 astra GSi everytime, its probably the only older hot hatch on the market i would personally own.

I cant see them losing an awful lot of money if you have a good example one.

love them, hold their value very well and i can't EVER see them dropping below 5k in price. when you think, 8-9k for one now, they were 20k new, thats only 11k dropped in 5-7 years, which isn't bad right now.

they were between 11-14k before the mk2 rs came out so i think they've took the brunt of the price drop now.

Driven one, absolutely loved it.

Friend had a big powered one, was very rapid to be fair

The only thing is, when you look at these for 9-10k now... you could be looking at evo8's for similar price range...
