Yeah, Should be fine with a reducer, One side male, one side female.

what are you trying to do? make a hole for an m12 bolt accept an m10 bolt?

Sounds like it.

Some sort of helicoil would probably be needed.

a heli-coil is to repair the thread of a knackered one, you could get an insert machined up to suit both threads, but there wouldnt be alot of 'meat' around the M10 thread.

I know, meant to write some sort of helicoil type device. You could helicoil it depending what it is if there were no other options though.
