I got home from my college in nottingham today about 4pm, an hour later my mum comes home practically in tears and shaking.
She was travelling down the A14 near cambridge doing about 60 due to rush hour traffic, when the car infront slammed on its brakes, she quickly reacted and just managed to slow down and so did the car behind. Her natural reaction was too look in the rear view mirror to make sure the car behind didnt hit her, luckily it didnt. But as she was looking at the women behind, the car behind the women hit her up the arse, went up on the roof and flipped and skidded next to my mum. Then all the cars started too pile up behind smashing into the backs of everyone.
My mums car was at the front of the pile up, untouched thankfully. She called the police and tried helping the people in the flipped car which was pissing out with fuel. She said the people in the front were hanging upside down crushed, covered in blood, unconcious with there necks deformed/broken the drivers shoulder was also dislocated and hanging out of the car, but knowone in the car was moving
Car was maybe a Vauxhall Corsa B she thinks (no airbags)
The women behind my mum had glass all in her face, and was shaken, but thankfully ok. We dont know about anyone else in the pile up.
Police are coming to take a witness statement tommorow.
Sounds like something out of a film, just hope the people are all ok...
Was anybody on or near the road or heard anything more about it? Missed the local news, and mums really worried about the people in the flipped car.
Cheers

One of the reasons i didn't want a long commute when starting my new job. I seen this on a daily basics.
I had a small bump in the pug where by i hit a Ford Focus at around 20 MPH causing little damange to the pug. I also had the same situation whereby i slamed on to miss the car in front and the car behind me got rear ended.
My sister has also smacked into the back of someone and some has rear ended her
It's a dangerous place is the road!
My sister needs to stop doing 1000 miles a week abd get a new job before she's in a box. She won't listen..
Luckily for me i never lost my NCB as the Focus had lost control and spun out allowing me to hit it and another car.

A14 can be a bad road in places. needs to be 3 lanes in the hot spots. i travel it alot and find it a nightmare at times, especially as its a main trunk road from harwich/felixtowe for foreign truckers. hope ur mums ok

Pile ups are insane!
Seen my first one last year. Was on our way to the VBOA rally at Billing. about 200 yards in front of us there was a huge pile up. It had been pissing with rain, we were going at about 40 mph and could just see the car in front of us before it happened.
Took 3-4 hours before we got turned round up the wrong way of the motorway.

i have to travel to nottingham for college nice 4 hour drive
there is so many accidents on the motorways all the time i dont see how it happens.
a few months back on the m25 there was a coach on top of a 206, firefighters were trying to cut away the roof of the 206 to get the people out and you couldnt help but look when the trafics not moving
