what parts would need replacing on a XE engine to make it as reliable as possible before fitting the engine into a corsa and how much roughly would the parts cost?

Cam belt kit
Water pump
Oil pump
Head gasket
New clutch.

Might aswell just re-build it if you want a reliable XE engine.

At a guess i'd say about £400-£500 just for parts. I think auto-vaux now do a full re-build kit for XE engines.

They show them in TV mags, but you're better of phoning them for a price.

yea, always ring autovaux.

i would say its worth doing a full rebuild too tbh. Get as much done before it goes in, as there is bugger all room once it is in!

Tbh mate i dont see the point of rebuilding it if you get a decent motor that runs spot on,dosnt smoke/tap etc.

Just do the timing belt/water pump and itl be fine.

Theres no point fixing something that aint broken imo.
