Going to look at a W reg, 1.4 16v Sport Corsa B on Monday night for my brother.
Know what to look for bodywork wise as I used to own a Corsa B (1.2 16v) but is there anything to look/listen for with the 1.4 engine? Reliable? Whats the cambelt intervals etc.?
Its done 76,000 miles.
I know its got reprofiled cams in it as a mate of mine owned it originally about 2.5 years ago but it only had 26,000 miles on the clock when he sold it.

Oil leaks
When was the belt done
rattling
Hold the engine revs around 3k rpm and listen for any rattle or knocks
check for smoke, i.e. stem seals.

if i remember right the timing belt is due somting like every 40k due to the tensioner & 2 idler pulleys, erm yeh check the oil ermm, headgasket are common (ish) also i think, not that i have had any problem with mine apart from the timing belt almost snapping!! and the fact it burns oil!

yep. 40k for the belt and tensioners...so check when they were last done, and i would replace them anyways when you get it.
That and a good service, but other than that they are solid engines and should last you.

Thanks for the help.
Looking at Parkers its worth 1k tops if its in mint condition. Mods dont add anything to the value of a car like this IMO.
If its any good would want to offer about £800 I think cos I know its not 100% mint.

how hard is it to change the stem seals is it a head off job? mine is making white smoke and i dont like it
