The ones on corners etc which say 'Max speed 25mph' or what ever

Are these legally binding? Or merely advisory?

they are advisory down to worst weather conditions, thats how i see them, if the road is a NS and the corner says 40 i'd stilll go roumd at 60plus unless it was pissing it down and/or slippy

I have been known to see if I can get round them at double the advised limit.

But the legal verdict on them is that they are only advisory. IAM thinks that 99% of them are a load of pish for uneducated drivers who are unable to read a road.

must agree with that although i always read them for those who cant handle a semi tight bend at speed, namely lorries and buses/coaches!

If its not surrounded by a red ring then its not Enforcable.

BUT you *could* be done for driving without due care and attention if you exeed the advisory speed and you lose control.
