New CCTV cars to catch drivers using their mobile phones or being otherwise distracted at the wheel are being piloted by Greater Manchester Police.
Interesting Story.. Thoughts? I don't agree with it, but then again - I am guilty of everything it is trying to prevent.
EDIT: Except applying make-up

These things have been around for a while in Manchester already. They are mainly used to catch people out using the bus lanes when they arent supposed to.

You're not going to be able to do anything soon without someone fining you
Again I'm guilty of most of the things they are trying to catch you for.

Is the smart car not a bit of a distraction intself for motorists? I know id be having a good look at it thinking "what the fucks wrong with that?" Whilst i pile into the back of someone at the traffic lights.

When I first saw that I thought it was a good idea, then I saw that theyve put a big pole out the top of the cars. Fail.

as said in a thread about them in offday, they have been down here for a year or two now, mainly to catch people that park illegally (on kerbs/on yellows etc).
i'm also guilty of eating while driving, using my phone and drinking (non alcoholic drinks).
it is a good thing but yeah it's very distracting as the pole on the roof is about 4 foot tall

Fuck me, with all that extra weight on the roof, surely it would tip over in a bend

as said we've had them for a few years down here, i remember reading in the local paper a few months ago that one of these was spotted parked on double yellows with the driver nowhere to be seen, a picture was printed aswell.
Practice what you preach cunts.
