Bought my Focus less than 6 months ago, and in time it's needed a spring replaced, a leaky windscreen fixed, a new alternator, a new air hose. And now its currently in the garage have a new clutch kit, flywheel and cam belt at a cost of £690
List of stuff yet to fix: -
- Air bag light is on constantly
- starter motor plays up (already been refurbished by auto electrician once, but should apparently sort itself out once the clutch is done)
- Rear screen wash doesn't spray the screen (No idea where the water actually goes )
Rant Over
Focus For Sale

On my Pug 307 you press for the rear washer and there is a noise and the fronts go on

A mate had a 1.8tdi and it brought him nothing but trouble.
But the biggest pain is the fact that on the 1st day of owning it, some scrotum in Tesco's carpark decided to scrape down the rear quarter denting it all. £3000 to fix , or insurance write off were his only options. Ended up just leaving it as was.

the old focus is about the best car ford ever built, the new one im not sure about never had any dealings with them.
all the things you have listed are wear and tear parts apart from the alternator and air pipe but that could just be bad luck.
the spring isnt suprising i see so many broken springs these days with the crappy roads and all the speed bumps!
the leaky windscreen is more than ikely some retard who didnt fit the pollen filter cover back on right thats very, very common.

My 53 plate Mondeo TDCi never missed a beat in the year I had it, done roughly 500 miles a week in it for about 5 months then it went to 500 miles a month. Never had a single problem with it. Swapped it for a Clio 172 and the timing chain slipped a week later, had the fella rantring and raving to me on the phone but it wasnt my fault!

Its more a case of being sick of shelling out ridiculous amounts of cash on it will...I could buy a decent XE for what a clutch/flywheel is costing me

LOL @ people jumping on the Ford are shit bandwagon
Ford (like Vauxhall) is a mass produced car manufacturer.
Mass produced cars = will never be problem-free!

Exactly. We've had plenty of Fords in the family, and they've all been great cars.

Fair point but when I had my old B I never had the money to do what I wanted to it, so this is my second chance

500 miles a week in my 1.4 Zetec MK6 Fiesta, never missed a beat except for the cambelt stripping it's teeth, but that was my fault for not changing it
And now my Zetec S, only had it 2 months granted but not let me down once.
Win some and you lose some!

Well in the manual I had it said 100k or 10 years, but Ford told me it was 70k or 5 years when I ranted down the phone, so fuck knows
Let go at 92k, which tbh I should probably have changed, was still bloody annoying
