The longest link in history

We can have it for £550pcm, its £100 more than we are paying now but for that £100 we get this extra:

Driveway, garage, extra bedroom, nicer overall property with better layout, bigger and better kitchen, nice estate (where we wont get broken into ), closer to work as well

edit - forgot these important bits - downstairs loo, ensuite shower and loo to master and family bathroom

I think its a decent price and the extra £100 is worth it for everything extra we are getting, opinions?

Also, we cant buy yet, we dont have the deposit, renting this for a year or so would mean we can save to buy soemthing like it in the future

Looks nice Danny, its a Haslam Home isn't it? A few identical to that on my road. I've had 2 Haslam Homes and both have been really well built as new homes go. Get it done.

Thats what im thinking Andy

Dan - Ive no idea whos built it, but if you recognise it then it probably is the same people, round here I think we have lots of Alison and Barratt houses, those are the main 2 I know of

Colin - yep its the only option open to us at the minute, unless you get 20% you end up paying upwards of £550 a month on a mortgage (cap repay), as we only really have fixed options open to us at 6% + and a decent place is £100k

I reackon for an £80-£90 a month on that you could easily mortgage it. Depending on how much deposit you could secure. I'd never rent but if needs must that does look good for the money.

Very nice

Ours is very similar to that and we pay £525 per month, its either a barratt home or a haslam home as ours is either one of them cant remember which.

New houses are good for renting but would never buy one as with living in one for over a year, you get to see how rubbish built they are, we've had cracks in ceiling and walls etc but its worth it to rent one

That's probably just the plaster starting to dry out. It's bound to happen.

Thats it _Allan_, I want to buy but limited on deposit (weve only got about 7k till my dad's money comes out [he died when I was 2 ] and to buy something nice we need 20% of £120-140k to not be paying silly money mortgage repayments). As Charlene says though it will be good experience of whether we want to buy new or a few years old, benefits and cons of both I guess

edit - also its rather difficult to save for a house deposit when you are still a student and earning 6k a year, still gotta eat and what not

Nice one Danny. Sorry to hear about your dad but hopefully you can get yourself settled. Sort out your finances and hopefully purchase a place similar in the not too distant future. Best get saving
