Try and open it from the non-groove bit before you do it. You just open it with your nail...

its easy, mine was done for 4 years or more and I never struggled to open it with just fingers/finger.

CB87 Electrical popper/Solenoid on a fuel cap???

Where they're fitted as standard they use a morse cable, I wouldn't want an electrical fitting anywhere near the fuel filler personally
