Going to purchase some polish tomorrow
Anything out there that will do a decent job on a budget Car is Black
It's been polished once in 19 months of ownership and needs a bit of tlc. Since it cost me £120 for tyres this morning, another £200ish this week for a service and £150 last week for the bonnet to be sprayed, thought i'd give it a good clean. Doesn't look too bad after a wash in all fairness, just a few swirl marks can be seen in the sun. Wasn't paying much attention tbh, way too many fitties in the front today
I hate spending money

3M Finesse-IT or Perfect-IT best polish available IMHO!

Autoglym Super Resin is uber shit.. Its full of silicone to make it easier to use, problem is builds up and gives your paint a greasy appearance.

By hand and off the shelf you'll not get much better than Super Resin Polish, make sure you top it with a half decent wax though otherwise you'll be doing it again before too long.
I used to use Clearkote Vanilla Moose on my old black coupe and it gave a fantastic shine.

It doesn't leave a greasy finish. Its the best hand polish you can buy and will give Andrew the results he is wanting on a budget.

You can use Finesse-IT by hand.. you'd be wasting your time with Perfect-IT though.

Agreed.
Was going to get a machine polisher but the paint is in a lot better condition i thought it would be. Think a good polish will get most of the swirl marks out. It will be near perfect apart from a small crack in the windscreen and car park dent in a rear door. Not bad imo for a 40k car.
In terms of wax, is Turtle Wax going to be any good on a black car or be too greasy/hard to get off? Used to use that on my silver Corsa and did a pretty good job.

I find TurtleWax Nano-tech is great. It's great for my red car, making it from pink to red and lasted the whole winter period. I recently used the Meguiars 3 step system, and its pink after a week. I reckon this is due to me rushing and not putting enough elbow grease into it as the 3 polishes are thinned based.

Are you serious? I used it on my mates and mine in the passed, Found it a doddle to use.
I'm on a spending spree as we speak. Already bought so chemical guys products and about to buy a snowfoam lance even though I doubt it'll make much difference, but I like to play

I don't think Turtle Wax do a pure wax, they are all polishing wax things. Get Collinite or something, not too expensive and will last for ages.

After my mates poor Cav paint was cut ack with G3 I polished it using megs stage 2 polish then used his £15 Collinite 476. I thought it'd be crap when I looked in the tin but was very impressed with how easy it was to apply and remove. Gave a great shine too.
