Don't think so, I heard there was a rule that you can't take it if you hit it though, but someone else can.

that is true.

if you hit something like a fox, cat or dog etc then you do by law have to report it. pheasants are just pests, make a right mess when i hit them in my 307 having the big grille that looks like a cheese grater

I hit a cat once, I was half tempted to find the owner and ask for some money for my smashed Airdam bumper.

i think thats why if you hit one you cant pick it up as i suppose technically you 'hunted'it without permission. whereas if someone else picks it up its already dead so its roadkill?

i thought it was only the "olden" days when you needed a dog license that you needed to report hitting a dog?

from my previous knowledge of having 2 cats run over and next door 3 you HAVE to avoid dogs but NOT cats although this may have changed

do you? I've bumped off a cat or 2 and never done anything about it for fear of angry owners taking revenge on me when its them at fault for letting their fur balls run round in the road

Yeah tbh I wouldn't do anything about it either, dogs shouldn't be roaming the streets anyway.

If there was a law against hitting wild animals I'd be fucked, I unintentionally ploughed through about 8 rabbits at 5am last friday.

My dad has had a few 'incidents' with animals at speed.

Worst was a fox trying to cross the M1, made it across the first 2 lanes then took out 4 radiators/coolers on my dads car! Had to have a new bumper too

Then a few months back he hit a pheasent at around 70mph which cracked his windscreen badly

There's thousands of pheasents round here, my mate lives on an old estate about 15 mins away and they recently released 3000 pheasents into the estate grounds ready for the shoots, their fucking everywhere! ther's also tons of deer, ducks, squirells, pigs escaping from fields etc.

Try hitting a badger at 70ish in a saxo. Only to watch the bugger get up and walk off!

Made a mess of the car!

Strange isnt it, you only have to wave a hammer near a saxo pannel and it creases.
