after 2/3 months wait, the Missus' new motor arrived late last night

Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 (Petrol!!!!)in Black with cream leather interior.
Its on a 55 plate and looks like it had every original option box ticked. Its even got an interior ski holder.

Last night we got anywhere between 8mpg and 30mpg but it averaged at 16mpg, yes Deano 16mpg!!!

Only problem was the guy who delivered it managed to clip the bumper/wing/indicator on the gate post of the hotel so its got to go back for repair now!

Photos tomorrow!

That was with her driving sensibly, give it to me I reckon I could get it down to 4/5 mpg.

its a bit Cheshire/Chelsea tractor but it will be used and is a good car for the environment in which she works; last year she failed to get into work four times because of flooded roads, twice because of snow and twice because police closed the roads for everything except 4x4s when she was in her ZetecS

People often overlook the practicality of 4x4's and assume you only need one if you live ontop of ben nevis

Pics tomorrow; tried to take some this morning but the missus had taken the camera batteries out and used them for her remote or something

Practicality is the main thing - at the end of the day the dieal vehicle for the htoel would be a sprinter, problem is it wouldn't look good parked here

Only thing I was disappointed with is when the seats fold down in the back they don't fold flat theystep up 6" so you haven't got a good flat loading area in the back

Not always.

Sometimes a company wants a particular car (Ferrari for example), but either can't find a lease company that will take one on brand new. Alternatives are then looked for, and IIRC, you can have cars up to 5 years old on lease.

It could be an outright purchase by the Hotel, though. Just becaue its a company car for the employee doesn't mean the company doesn't own it

The hotel chain has 70 which it has purchased over a 5/6 year period. once they're 7 years old they get replaced with a new car into the fleet.

Each of the 28 hotels has an individual Range Rover (except the one in France which has a Bentley Azure iirc). The Range Rover's are bumped around the group and its taken this long for it to come up because there had to be a reason for someone to visit the hotel from where they're kept, 2 days ago being the first opportunity. Clare will keep this until it's 7 years old and then it'll be replaced with a brand new one.

Although with the damage, they've said they might just send another up now to replace this one.

Its very very nice, but, I don't feel they are a very good car.

Drove my next door neighbours 3.0TDi one and I was more than happy to step back into my manual Ibiza.

Still, liek you say, does the job for her and for her job, obviously doing well in life. Spot on

Also the hotel chain's umbrella company also owns a prestige car dealership and I guess some of the Range Rover's are supplied from there when they come in as Part exchanges. Regardless, its free and at her disposal as and when she requires it.

Its not classed as a company car, it is the Hotel car for use by management, it has to be kept offsite for 5 nights out of 7 and the only other person permitted to use this one is the chef - but he will only need it for the 2 corperate chef days a year

I was about to say, company car tax on that would be more than my little monthly wage

Do you have to pay for the petrol? I'd cry everytime the low fuel light came on tbh.

depends on what its used for some of the GMs (rightly or wrongly) seem to use them as their personal cars, We're keeping her Fiesta and she'll use that when she stops at her mum's as its too high to get under the lean-to at her Mum's house so had to stay on the road the other night but if we go away in it somewhere then we'll stick the petrol in it

Honestly mate, if the school slapped me one of those and said "fill her up every now and again" I'd have a constant smile from ear to ear.

Well done to her IMO
