I've just been offered that, or to be "prosecuted" for having my car on the road 24th of feb without insurance (washing it) NOT DRIVING IT. It was insured 25th of Feb at 8am, the police said "ohh this'll prob just get chucked out", and my 2 years is in june so i'm ban i believe

Let them prosecute you, court will throw that out

That's slightly harsh although the law.
You had definitely just moved it from private ground to wash it and something with an ANPR camera happened to drive by?

Do you not have a driveway to wash your car on?

i'm thinking of waiting the 28 days, even the police said it's clear i wasn't trying to get away with anything, i was only washing the car, and he happened to drive by basically.
i'll have to talk to a lawyer, i work as a driver, i need my licence i know everyone says that, but i didn't speed or any common offence, i fucking washed my car :@
no drive-way
and £5000 is meant to be the fine, and criminal record, i'm sure the proc fiscal thinks i was driving or something, cause the only reason i accepted it from the police without asking for pics etc was because he said it was a much lesser offence

Like John said its extremely harsh but you can't have a car even parked on the road with no insurance.
You might get away with it though...

Where was the car parked normally if you don't have a driveway?

In the eyes of the law you've done wrong. If you let it roll to court & actually have to stand in front of the judge it will depend completelly on how hes feeling on the day/who you get. If you get done you'll get the same points but probably a larger fine.
Id chance it, like you said you need your license for your job thus you've nothing to loose!!

Did you trailer it round
I'd go to court.
From what i've seen on road wars you'll get a £10 fine.

It will take around a year to go to court so plenty time to save up. Meanwhile you get to keep driving.
Lawyers cost money just defend yourself.
Ignore any letters unless its a court citation.

so if i let this go to court, and say i still get 6 points but its after june will i still have a licence?
may i add, my other car was insured until the 25th, hence the swap over, so i had no intention to drive an un-insured vehicle!

I 'think' any points you recieve are back dated to the date of the crime, however by the time you get them you'll be past June & clear of your 2yr new driver thing!!

Just let it go to court and explain the situation. Believe it or not, they will respect you more for going and saying your bit. Everything you say adds up and seems innocent. Don't panic.

Whether the judge backdates the points - depends on the judge, on the day etc. Mate had 4 points then had his hearing for another 4 points after his 2 years was up - but he was caught before the 2 years was up. It got backdated and he got banned.
