 | I've got one, but my one came from performance trim. If it's £200 quid new i wouldn't count on it being a good fit.

 | How can you say that about something you've only just seen on e-bay?

Might just be a guy in a shed that's good at what he's doing and feels he can't compete with the big dogs in terms of price.

You pay for what you get. Why would someone making carbon bonnets for £200 not command the top dollar like the " big boys " do?

Normally cheap carbon bonnets don't have a decent fit & the weave in the carbon is shite.

Because Joe Bloggs in his shed in Newcastle can't afford 'top dollar' advertising? seems like that to me anyway.

I'm sorry if you're so negative that you would jump straight to that conclusion, but unless you've seen it you can't really pass judgement - no wonder people are saying there's no such thing as a bargain these days if anything that comes along at a cheap price gets immediately slated.

Fair enough if that's what you think, but if I had £220 sitting here I'd be getting contact details, speaking to the guy about how it was put together and seeing if it was worth a punt.

 | Even the stuff the 'big boys' make is utter pish. It's just a lump of fabric and resin, no engineering has gone into any of the tat that you usually see for sale.

I totally agree. I hate it when people add carbon bits just for the sake of it.
Yes, carbon fibre is a nice looking material, but i think it should only be added for its functionality (usually its lack of weight and strength).

My brother recently added carbon fibre b pillar trims that actually just fitted over the existing b pillar plates. So im reality that actually made his car minutely heavier just for the sake of having some carbon fibre on show.
Theres just no need. The carbon scene is dying out.

Its only cool when you have a painted carbon bonnet. Understated FTW.

Cant do, there is no metal (iron) involved to oxidise.

Thery make boat hulls from fibreglass, they are surrounded by copious amounts of water and oxygen by their nature, and have no problems of this sort.

 | On Topic:

Most of these Carbon bonnets are just show style shit. They arent that light and some use the existing skeleton of bonnets for strength.

For the price difference (FOR WEIGHT REASONS) i've gone for GRP. Its just as light, and much much cheaper.... it just isnt as strong.

I have GRP doors, boot etc
