been looking for a new car for a while now something smart looking thats a bit special. havent been able to find anything. well i went into one of the local small ford dealers and spotted this:

its limited edition only 500 have been made. spec is as follows:
unique 'U'-shaped stripes (echoing the livery of the classic Escort RS2000 of the 1980s) and matching side livery.
17in 11-spoke black alloys,
red brake callipers
carbon fibre interior trim
Sony audio system
full black heated leather seats
2.0litre duratec engine 148bhp
black panther paint
technology pack
privacy glass
lower and stiffer supsension
performance exhaust
carbon gearknob
st kick plates
in dash 6 cd changer
cat 1 alarm
now the thing is you can pick up a normal st for about £6k 55plate a white one is slightly more around £7-8k 55plate but this one is just short of £11k 57plate.
im just trying to see what peoples opinions are on whether its worth the extra
money for the extras and the exclusivity of it being only one of 500. oh ye and i forgot to mention its says on the dash on a little plaque "ST500 1/500" so by my way of thinking thats number one of the 500.
any ideas? insurance is the same as a normal ST just the price.

Cool car. Certainly more interesting than any other run of the mill ST.
Although it was just brought out as a gimmik and a reason for Ford to charge more, I think it might be worth the extra cash (if you can afford it) as it'll probably be worth more than a normal ST when you come to sell it in a few years time.

i think there a total waste of money, feel cheap and nasty inside, not quick, brakes are shite, dont handle that bad, but inside apart from leather its like sitting in any old fiesta.
price dosent justify the car IMO

I should probably say at this point in time i've never driven one, or been in one
My previous comment was based purely on looks.

2 years newer and £5k?
I'd rather keep the £5k, drive down to Jamsport and hand them just over £3k for a Supercharger conversion. Then the rest to sort the brakes and the suspension out.

to be honest i need to keep myself out of trouble as police seem to take a liking to me and one copper has it out for me well and truely hes already taken me to court once! so really im after something nice, reliable but also a bit special. not too bothered about top speed or acceleration. aslong as it doesnt understeer on gentles bends at 30mph handling shouldnt be a problem. havent really tested it yet im going back in the morning for another look so i'll see if the interior feels tacky and cheap. thanks for the comments though its giving me a good idea. also i want a car i dont have to change i dont want to start modifying it because i wont stop

Just to throw another idea at ya...
How about a Ford Racing Puma?
They're rare, cool, fat, handle well (from what i've read) and destined to be a future classic...

I think the standard pumas are quite girly, but i'd have an FRP. They're quite chunky in the flesh and look very purposeful.

racing pumas are just nicer to look at than a normal puma,
more powerfull engine, bucket seats, handling.... grips like shit to a blanket, and will see just over 70 in second and get you there quickly.
ride isnt to bad ether seeming its got lower stiffer springs, and not to bad to insire really,
rare as rocking horse shit as a lot of peeps touch that little button that turns the ESP off.... and then crash lol

FRP's have ESP and an LSD???Whats the point in that??
Thatd be like sticking traction control on an M3.

I think the Racing Puma looks meaner.
the ST500's don't look too bad though, but the bonnet graphic is gash imo!

Mate bought one.
I don't see why though. Doesn't seem that different from a normal one except the livery.

Doesn't the ST500 just come with extra stickers and colour coded alloys? Pointless waste of money IMO

they were just a gimmick to get rid of some spare fiesta mk6 shells before the new model came in.
1 of 500 you wish mate. every one says 1 of 500, they aren't individuallly numbered.
FRP's are awesome. i was going to buy one last year after one went past me, sounded and looked immense.

I wouldn't waste your money on the ST500!
Get the ST mate, in white!
I've got the Zetec S and it is lovely to drive, got creature comforts and they are pretty nippy, ST can only be better

I seen one before I knew what it was and it looked like a boyracer'd up ST. I wouldnt have one myself, looks tacky, same with the black Focus STs with the silver stripes... tacky!

all good comments in my opinion i do really like the way it looks. its not the fastest car or the best handling but it looks nice. im starting to think its a bit overpriced though even though its only done 7000miles, 08plate and only been driven by the dealership. im just after a nice small car thats going to be reliable, looks nice, has a bit of speed and is a bit special.
anyone got any more ideas other than FRP?

Just look at what you are paying 3k extra for (5k extra if you don't want a white ST)
Black wheels
Some stripes
Think there are a couple of carbon bits, but really, it's just one big swizz. White ST is the way forwards
As for not being the best handling, they handle amazing, drive one and you'll find out
