out of interest, what's the fine/penalty for driving a vehicle with an expired mot?

a mate of mine wants to drive his car a few days after the mot expiry date for a journey not related to getting an mot

he has booked for an mot but there will be a gap between it expiring and getting a new mot

who knows what the dealio is?

3 Points and £150 fine. No MOT means that the insurance is Void so the car would proberbly be impounded too. It's not worth the risk, Just MOT the car.

My mate got pulled over the other day and his MOT had ran out. Police said it had ran out when the pulled him over and he said it had not (as he thought it hadnt). They gave him a producer so he went and got MOT then handed in all the correct documents.

apparently, its only tax and insurance that ANPR check.

it doesnt check the MOT as they assume that the car has one if its taxed as you need MOT to tax the car. However you MOT can run out the day after you got the tax....

I drove my bike without an MOT yesterday Don't really see the point in the risk of driving around day to day though.

As said, no MOT = no insurance so theortiucally you cna get points etc., thinky ou would just get a 7 day window in which to get it done though

You insurance is only void if you're in an accident that's your fault, and the cause of the accident is something that would of failed the MOT. Otherwise having no MOT does NOT void your insurance.

You can only drive it from and to the MOT station without MOT, You will get a fine and could lead to gettting the car impounded.

Insurance will still be valid!

Information above is from a traffic officer
