I'd definately look for a 1.2, the 1.0 is too underpowered. Even the 1.2 isn't that great.

how long are the journeys? I had a 1ltr for about 4 years, it was painful at times but a great car to start your driving in, did plenty of trips in it without any bother.

Also depends what your used to and what your expecting out of it.
1.2 at minimum IMO. Why are you looking at getting a 1.0 or 1.2 D anyway

i have 1.0 12v not D but B, did ~470 miles trip @70 mph(sometimes more, but satnav kept bugging me when went past 75)
was a really easy trip, and averaged something like 48 mpg...
so cant see D being worse?

The b only weighs in at 857kg (Corsa Envoy) Whereas the d is 1025kg (Life)
D has more power (by 5hp) however is half a second slower to 60 than the B....
I think i'd go mad tbh
Oh links for info

1.0 12v is bad enough in a corsa B Havent driven a corsa D 1.0 so cant really comment on it, but my 1.0 B isn't great on the motorway to be honest and feels very underpowered in general. Very economical engine though!
Cant see the insurance being a huge amount more on a 1.2 even with your misses on the policy. Get some quotes for both to compare 1.2 will be a lot nicer to drive if your doing long motorway trips.

Knowing how slow my 1.0 B was, I dread to think how slow the 1.0 D would be.
If you really want a 1.0 but not too old, look at the late Cs, but I'd be wanting a 1.2 at the very least.

1.0 corsa d's are terrible. Due to the weight of the vehicle they are also less ecomonical than the 1.2 which is also pretty dire! Your best (if you can afford to) going for the 1.4 twinport of a diesel

My corsa B 1.0 12v is not bad on the motorway, quite slow on the motorway and also quite loud (road noise) although very economical great run around.
