firstly theres been some talk on the internet of a new vauxhall the "ampera". its a european version of the chevrolet volt. in my opinion it looks a bit like a new focus. it claims its c02 levels are below 40g/km and can offer up to 176mpg!! just wondering what other people think if it and will it be a good seller in this country or just another concept that wont work?
http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/238473/
and secondly hiding in a tiny little advert in the new autocar is a road legal track car that is going to be a small production car like the caparo. i cant remember the name but i will find out and post it up. its claimed that it will do 0-100mph in 3.6secs!!!!! its a complete carbon fibre shell all lightweight wheels etc from the picture it looks like a single seater or it may have a seat behind the driver i couldnt quite tell. if anyone can find it please post up a link to it here as its a monster of a machine and at those sort of speeds is just rediculous to be allowed on british roads!
theres also talk of two limited edition vxrs coming out...an astra and a corsa... its to celebrate vauxhalls success it the BTCC and they will come in red and black with gloss black wheels, tinted rear windows, rear diffuser, black sidestrips and black mirrors. the astra will be around £21,455 and the corsa will be around £17,425. both prices are a bit on the expensive side but if they are anything like the artic editions will go up from book price because of the rareness and demand for them!

i supose thats my morning rant pretty much over and done with now

Repost.
But, you won't pay 21k for the Astra and you won't pay 17k for the Corsa.
17k for Astra
14.5k for Corsa.

Ampera, if it gives those figures, will sell in the millions imo. Use as company cars and family men will snap them up. Good idea tbh

ahh sorry about the repost didnt know it had been up. ye the vxr's are a bit over priced but i mean there are people out there that want the exclusivity of owning a limited edition one then they will pay it even if it is over priced. they should hold their money alright aswel so it might not be a bad iinvestment at the right price maybe second hand low mileage.
ye they seem a good idea but are pretty much along the same lines as the prius and thats not exactly sold millions lol

Its proven the prius is shit. Around town you'll get 45mpg.....mine gets 55 and i drive like a turd. Motorway runs the prius is shite as its underpowered.
However if it returns near 180 on motorway runs at 55, then it'd be very very very worth it.

i think it will be along the same lines though as in it will run off an electric motor for a while then the engine will kick in at which point they add up the total distance using the engine and the electric motors to give an mpg figure so its always going to be higher than what it can actually do but at 176mpg you should still be getting atleast 100mpg from just the engine!! thats better than 1.3L small diesels!!

Pruis isnt that bad.
Bad car yes, but the underlaying technology is good.

Agreed, until it makes funny noises. And, having one in your family you can agree they dont gve back decent mpg when crossed with normal driving conditions. You have to drive like you own a prius.
