before this gets deleted by willay, i have reasons why im posting it and pics up.
now reason i post these up is im crap at cleaning cars. im not going to pretend i know anything about it other than sponge, water and some car shampoo stuff from tesco's.
i like this car, its great to drive and overall is in decent condition. being black it has a few light scratches on it. ive never polished it since i bought it and i want to know what would be the best thing to get to maybe remove the light scratches? also, whats the best thing/product for dashboard shine?
i want to keep this car another year or 2 so id actually like to look after it which is a change for me as usually i wash a car when i cant read the back reg plate.
so scratch removal, and dashboard shine? any help would be greatly appreciated. i fancy having a go at polishing it as ive never polished a car in probably 8-9 years.

heard poorboys do a good polich for black 
i found keeping on top it of it with wax is the best way! wax actually turns my car more red than polish!

depends how light or deep the scratches are really, t-cut and auto glym srp are good for light scratches, also invest in a grit guard for the bucket and you get significantly less scratchess from your mit

i dont think theyre that deep the scratches. i tried to take pics but you cant make them out. the flash sort of spoils it.

srp usually cvers the scratches (light ones) on my golf, also black

autoglym srp then? i have some turtle wax black stuff in the garage but ive no idea what it is or how long its been there for. if i can keep this car in decent condition id be quite happy. its the first car ive hoovered the matts and floor in for ages.

yep and as said before keep on top of the waxing and polishing, it makes it easier to keep clean imo

yes, it gets used to tow stuff and cars about. its quite good at it actually.

they came on it when i bought it shep. i cant be bothered getting new ones yet as the tyres are still really good.

Best thing to do with light scratches.. or even deep ones as long as it hasnt gone thru the paint your alright. get some 2000 grade paper. rub the scratches down gently then use some compound polish ( i use nano tech from turtleWax its gritty enough) then if you can get a buffer, buff it out or if only little ones u can do it by hand but wouldnt get as briliant job as a buffer.

see that sounds a bit too complicated for me compared to normal polish.

Nic, get yourself some wax from wherever, put about a 20p piece amount on a rag, put it on the car in a cicular motion, till youve done the whole car then go back to where you started with a new rag and polish it off again in a cicular motion. Dont know if thats the answer your after, coz the post just said you hadnt a clue about polishing so thought instead of listing the meguiers range id start from the beginning
