Any point in putting them into exhaust systems?

Apparently they make exhaust note different (not sure in what way)..

any perfomance gains?

i know milltek do one for my car that comes with or with out one, and the one with out is louder so am assuming its a silencer

they make less Drone if you get me

a straight through will be loud in car
a straight through with resonator will be quiet in car and all the noise will come out the back. iv got one.
