Get a LET then. To get anything near 190bhp you will need to spend a grand on the engine. There is no such thing as cheap horsepower. You get what you pay for.
I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Strip it out mate, it'll feel quicker, brake quicker etc and it's free
If your going to do anyting 'cheap' id just get a decent exhaust manifold and system made up with a decat. Stick an enclosed filter on it as the open ones will hinder the car at low RPM due to heatsoak.

have you tried striping the breather system n uncloging all the hoses xe's suffer from this problem plus killing the power when flooring it round bend it doesnt cost you nothing to give it a good clean out and then also the is a splash proof plats that fits in the top of your rocker cover they arnt a lot of pennies but i mod well worth doing in my book as like i say its a common problem on xe engines

basicly m8 the best mods for pennies is breathing and firing wot exhaust/filter have you got if its still runing basic plugs either buy some decent ones or even give em a good clean other than that youd be looking at spending money after that is the engine a high miler ifso oil change and engine oil flush should hepl bring a few dead n bury'd horese back to life

Make your mind up, if you want to feel any difference then you need to get increases of 30 - 50 bhp

Fuck all, unless you buy a decent programmable ignition. Then you will need to spend about a grand.
There is no such thing as cheap horsepower. It costs money to tune an engine. Fact!
