I have never bought a second hand car that wasn't from a main dealer so wouldn't know where to start. I am wanting to buy a 2002 2.2 Dti Vectra but want to know if A) anyone knows of any common things wrong with them that I should ask and B) What things I need to know when asking.....

If you are part-exing a car with them be aware they will give you, especially in the current climate, a lot less than a private sale for your car, unless you drive a shit heap you couldnt sell yourself obv!

Also, if it were me, I would be scouring local private sales and taking the cheaper ones along with you to help with bartering the cost down and getting stuff thrown in for free, like tax, tank of diesel, mot, service etc

edit - sorry i dont know much about the 2.2DTi, I drive the 2.0 variant, you may want to nip over to the Astra/Vectra forums to ask about engine troubles

Assuming you'd test driven the car and liked it and everything seemed ok... You should be asking about service history, mot expiry, warranty, get a hpi check (£3 by text).
