Does it take a car to appear on the insurance database?
I insured my 106 on saturday about 5 o'clock, but I used askmid and it says it isnt on the insurance database?

Websites like that arent allways accurate mate, when did you set the policy to start from?as it should be done for then.

Oh, thats ok then, it was set from about 20 mins after the phonecall to the insurance. Problem is the car needs taxed, and the dvla online tax thing uses askmid to confirm insurance

go to the post office to do it with your covernote. it can be upto a month before it appears on the database properly!

doubt she'd notice... just either go without and say 'oh sorry I forgot it' or just shop a note if you don't have one.
They're pretty slow in the post office.

tbh its up to the insurer to put it on, and it should be done immediately.
i have a nightmare with claims at work trying to trace unknown drivers . MID search shows me an insurer but when i ring them they tell me that they dont insure the car because it was sold months earlier but MID details were just never updated.

Whenever I buy a car, I insure it at the sellers house over the phone or online.

When I went to look at the XE I phoned up, got a quote and asked if I could put it on ice. When I got there and all was well (or so I thought), all it took was a quick 5 minute phonecall and all was sorted.

rung the insurance up and said im not getting it, it was the same policy as I had before, just had the Ibiza put on in place of the Golf
