Oh Paul, you and your traveling! Ok. In the style of when Channel 5 bought Neighbours and they had a big re-cap thing cos they missed loads out.....
In the lakes following some other VX220s to a pub meet type thing, just pootling along well below the speed limit. Came over the crest of a hill, combined it with not concentrating and then added a sprinklling of looking at something on the other side of the road, i didnt notice the car in front had stopped. I managed to slow down a bit but not enough 
Right now im driving something not worth mentioning

Someone has bought it to return it to the road. Doesn't mean anything dodgy at all, just that whoever is doing so is not spending main dealer money on parts or labour.

Could be that it's ended up in a scrappy, and the scrappy have one there that has been rear ended.
When i was trailing through the scrappys a couple of years back there was a Corsa C there with front end damage but they wouldn't let me touch it. Owner told me they were putting it back on the road.

this has happened to me, my corsa was supposedly recorded as cat c, went to the scrapies, guy who worked there bought it, partly fixed it and then sold it on and they applied for the v5 i phoned the dvla and they told me it hadnt been wrote off, so they told me to sent them the v5 and ive not heard anything back yet, made sure the fuckers didnt get away with it not being recorded

It happens every day, i work at a body shop, most of the people at my work's cars are write off's, obviously if you work in the trade its easy to get hold of cheap parts, and the labour is nothing cause you do it youself. Nothing dodgy about it.
Lad at my work bought a 54 plate Clio 182 Cup with 12k on the clock as a Cat D about 6 month ago, all in all, including all parts etc, fully fixed up, stood him at £3,700. Bargain.
@ Deano, that is quite clearly a Cat D, mainly cosmetic damage. Will be back on the road in no time.

Whats the difference between it being C or D? How do they decide i mean?
Im not that bothered, just surprised its going to be put back on the road from what the guys at the garage told me it was proper fucked.

The ABI Categories of 'Write-Off'
Category A: Scrap only - this vehicle should have been crushed. It should never reappear on the road and there are no economically salvageable parts. It is of value only for scrap metal - e.g. a totally burnt-out vehicle.
Category B: The bodyshell should have been crushed. The vehicle should never reappear on the road, but it can be broken for spare parts plus any residual scrap metal.
Category C: Vehicle extensively damaged and insurer has decided not to repair. The vehicle should have an independent inspection before being allowed back onto the road.
Category D: Vehicle damaged and insurer has decided not to repair.
Category F: Vehicle damaged by fire and insurer has decided not to repair.

Goes on a lot of things, not just the damage, also goes on age, mileage, condition of the car before the accident etc.
For example, if you have a 96 plate 1.4 Sport with 120k and it needs a bonnet and slam pannel, would probly be a Cat C, where as if you had a 2000 plate 1.4 Sport with 50k and it had the same damage, would probly be classed as a Cat D.

Cant have been that fucked if it was only a D, doesnt need a check to go back on the road. Just repair and off ya go.

Dont just mean how clean it is lol. Like if its hit on the bonnet and wing, and the passenger quater is stoved in from previous damage, its less likely to be repaired.

Got a letter this morning from a chap not too far away requesting service history, spare keys etc as he is repairing it for road and track use Im going to try and find out how much damage there actually was.
