i own a 3-bed house with 30 year mortgage with northern rock on a fixed for 5 years deal, been in it for nearly 2 1/2 years, just out of curiosity i got a quote on a conservatory, and it werent bad but not sure i would be lent the money from northern rock on my mortage at the moment are there any peeps in the know with this kind of stuff.....

my mortgage is now stands at 113k capital obviously but sure my house is only worth about 115-118k so......

quote for the conservatory is 5.5k

You'd be better saving the cash and not having your extension added to your mortgage, or you'll be paying 10k for a 5k build.

here here!

tbh i would not be looking to add to your mortgage at the mo as when you come to re mortgage in a few years time you may be in negative equity if this credit cruch is still going on.....

So you walk into your home one day and your best mate is scratching the itch on his tongue with your missus' badger hair, you split and need to sell up? You just never know my friend, you never know.

wouldnt build a conservatory!!!

cold in the winter and to warm in the summer, whether it is heated or not.

I would build a sun lounge instead, far more useable room.

brick or timber frame built, lots of large windows similar to a conservatopry but a proper roof.

means you can sit in it when it is raining etc

I have a serious think about it and maybe ask some friends/colleuges with conservatorys

conservatorys are the daddy!

cold in the winter - why would you be in there in the winter watching the rain??

to warm in the summer - how can it be to warm? that why people go to hot places

love ours! it goes across the back of the house! got pool table 2 sofas and coffe table in there

Everybody has different preferences I guess, I'd never have a sun lounge with a glass roof simply because of the safety issue, every upstairs window in my house has an escape option, I don't want to have to dive through a glass roof in the event of a fire and land back in a burning house.
