Nah he had a 7 or 8 MR in gunmetal grey.
Guy I went to school with has a 6, seems to spend every penny he makes on it right enough. Its running 400/420.
Id rather a newer one tbh.

350bhp-ish is achievable with basic mods - cams, custom pipework, uprated turbo, greddy boost controller, exhaust system and hydra ecu with generic map.

Power delivery wise not that different from your Type R, you have to keep some revs on to keep it going. Driving wise though very easy to go very fast point to point without you really having to work all that hard. I spent a lot of time driving Lisas Evo 7 so cant imagine the 5 or6 being too far away. Personally i prefer the looks of the later ones.

my dad had an Evo6 "xtreme" a few years back, I believe it was the same styling as the zero-fighter? (could be wrong but it was same looking as this http://pistonheads.co.uk/sales/853807.htm), was a nice enough car although it attracted the wrong type of attention - his was very mildly tuned to about 350hp and it was reliable, never missed a beat for him in the years he owned it.
