I'm paying £12.50 a month at the mo for my tariff.

600mins
Unlimited Texts
Unlimited Data
Finishes in Dec 2009

Now I want a iPhone and want to gop to 02, and take my number with me.

I called up Voda and asked for a price to end contract early thinking it would be remaining months x £12.50. However it appears my tariff is discounted at £12.50 so I would actually ahve to pay £25 x remaining months left!)

What are the chances of me negotiating this lower?

If not, can I carry the contact on but trasfer my girlfriends Voda PAYG number to it so she can use it (I'll keep paying), with me releasing my number to take to 02?

I pay £27.50 for that exact deal and even that is a VERY good price and Vodafone wouldn't go any lower. I know someone who works for Vodafone and he said they really would never go lower than £27.50 if you're not a very old customer who has stayed on their original tariff. You're a mug if you want to loose that.

No but I want an iphone.

Looking into getting an unlocked one now anyways on ebay so means I can keep vodafone and still buy a iphone and its works out cheaper than the monthly 02 tarriff

I did have a contract handset but at upgrades time went to sim only.

Its still listed as contract though and not 1 month rolling? I'm tied in till December 2009.

Easiest thing to do is to get a PAYG iphone or one off ebay, jailbreak & unlock it and then use your current voda contract. And from what i gather, everything other that visual voicemail works on voda.

The only problem you might have is if the iPhone has the latest firmware, as it'll have the latest Baseband and therefore you cannot unlock it

I don't see how people are paying so much for their contracts?

£11.66 a month (18) for 600 minutes, unlimited SMS and unlimited MMS,

I think people need to start playing their current provider off against another provider when their renewal comes up!

@bishbosh - simply tell your provider that you're moving to another network due to them offering (then say whatever you want, and a price), usually they'll match it or offer it for a little less. If not just say you'll think about it and phone back, you'll get a different operator.
