Anybody had any experience of Boss Cart?

Free shopping cart software that can be used on websites - I've just downloaded it to try out as I'm contemplating setting a shop up on my site to sell Dodo & Autosmart bits from.

I will only accept payment through the likes of PayPal & Nochex though to avoid having to sign up to SSL certificates etc.

People's opinions on this or suggestions for other FREE shopping cart software would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Yeh am going to play around with it - was just seeing if anybody had used it and experienced any issues with it - coding errors / reliability/easy to hack etc etc.

I have a business PayPal addy set up and am going to set up a seller Nochex account set up, but they'll be the only means of payment I will accept, not pay for an SSL certificate card processing function on the site as they get expensive lol.

OsCommerce is probably the most widely used, plenty of add ons and templates available because of this.

Also check out CRE Loaded which is a version of OSCommerce with a lot of the popular add ones already installed.

Thanks mate

I actually stumbled upon OS Commerce last night and d/l it but haven't got round to playing around with either yet. Will now d/l CRE loaded too

Make that "obtain" CRE loaded - didn't realise that one wasn't free!

Zencart is another OSCommerce spin off IIRC, but has a few flaws in it.

CRE Loaded has a free version, but can get the (small amount) paid version which gets rid of the need for certain features.

Most are free but require you to have a small link at the bottom of pages saying you are using a free version, so watch out for that.

One last tip - if you are after a site building but on a budget, try putting a project up on CRELance.com, people will 'bid' for what you want and it often gets you a really good price.

Thanks for the advice

I'm happy with my actual site, am now just looking at adding a free bit of shopping cart to it to allow me to sell a few products on

You've got to make the buyers trust your site, having them go to a different looking site will not make them do so - so Id really suggest making the shopping cart the same design as your site!
