Unfortuneatly wrong

I have had a set to with a corsa xe and an astra xe and saw both of them off

i beat martin c's old astra gsi at crail with my old corsa xe that was std. he will remember it well. it was very close though.

I imagine on a 1/4 it would be close yes,

But I dont drive my car flat out for 1/4 of a mile then stop

Around the 110 mark the astra struggled to keep with me, the corsa did do a fair bit better and Im not talking whats speed I had to do to shake him off.

The clio 197 however died on its arse at 90mph and was nowhere to be seen after 2miles

in my experience the gsi/ctr/xe corsa are all similar, depends on individual car and driver, had a play with loads of ctr's over the years and they all vary.

yep and i had mastered the art of that old red xe corsa very well id say.

id have a ctr

for a few reasons

can drive normaly, not exessly fast, then if you want to have fun, vtec it, whereas turbo id be boosting all the time just becasue its instant power

tax, turbo tax is gonna be £££ but could also mean prices will come down....

ctr are cheap now days £5k can get you a half decent one

and dont forget it a jap car, builtproof engine, and can be supercharged

theyre not bullet proof by any means. ive seen loads in being fixed. ie engine failures. just the internet seems to ignore that.

yes can be supercharged. fair enough. but they still lack the torque.

i own xe corsa and astra gsi, and corsa is quicker to 60mph but in gear the astra starts to pull alot easier and sees the corsa off after 90mph

gsi's are nice little cars really, ive only had afm go wrong in 20k ive owned it and seems to pull well now on 58k with standard turbo no smokes etc etc and im happy with, can be made to driven fast if you put some effort in.....

true there not bullet proof, but with thoes sort of revs.....

well i couldnt see a vauxhall engine taking the same sort of abuse and lasting as long

and for torque, all depends on whats it being used for, personly i dont think you need torque. my car had fuck all torque but kept up with a typre r

and other example is rx8, more personal preferance, for a every day car id want torque like a deisel, but for fun, nothing beats reving the nuts off something

True that is a big spec but the standard jackson racing setup for a few k gets you close to 300bhp and pritty much 200lbft
Been out on one and it felt rather brisk at this spec
