Think I have decided my Astra CDTi SRI Sporthatch is a bit too big and grown-up for me yet so looking at p/x'ing it in for 1 of the above
Both fall into the £12k ish bracket Im looking at and are what I would consider as small fun hot hatches
Can anyone give some pro's/con's of each and which one they prefer & why?
Cheers

What is the point in asking on here when nobody bar possibly 2 people have driven them extensively?
The only way you will gauge an honest opinion is to drive them both back to back.
So briefly..
Corsa VXR, easier to live with better tuning ability, quicker in a straight line.
197, full on track attack car. More precise than the Corsa but won't be noticable on the road. Engine is hard work but rewarding.

the reason I asked on here is in case anyone has experienced both, whether it be a test drive or owning one
Only a simple question really mate

You will love the Corsa VXR coming from the Diesel Astra, it's fast, it corners brilliantly and looks great.

Not driven the corsa but thought the clio is brilliant. Like OJC sed, clio is a drivers car (constintly revs wants to go ) I rekon it would do your tits in on motorway though!

Brilliant. Now go and ask the owners and just about every performance related magazine if they agree with you.

I drove both & decided I'd rather live with the Clio, which shocked me a bit.
Plus it's about finding the right car for the right money, just see what comes up. I'm biding my time but I think I'll end up with a 197 just because you can get them at the good prices.

Yea also asking on a corsa owners club is not to fair. I have owned 2 x 172 and i loooove them, just in my current situation i wanted something fun and cheap to run/maintain so got a corsa 1.4 sport

The newer clio is a massive improvement on the old car! Nice/lighter gearbx and clutch, better driving posistion.....
