Alright guys
i smashed my corsa on wednesday night into the back of my mates 106
I phoned the insurance yesterday and explained everything about my mate claiming me and that and they told me that the assessor will phone me in the next 24 hours to arrange a time and date to come out and assess them.
My dad phoned me last night and told me that the insurer will be phonin me today at some point to get the story from me. Nw my mate that i crashed into was speaking to me on msn and has told me that his car has been took away and he has been left with an 08 plate subaru impreza courtesy car.
When i crashed into him i jumped out and made sure he was alright and that and he told me he was fine cos his harnesses were on and he dint move. So i took my dad down to his bit yesterday so my dad could see the damage to the 106 and my so called mate was walkin about claiming he had been to the hospital and he has craked ribs and a sore back and all the rest of it.
he came up to my house today to show me this courtesy car and hes jumping about outside it as if he was excited about the scooby hmmm some cracked ribs and that eh?
what sort of leg do i have to stand on regarding this as i am not having him claiming me for cracked ribs when clearly there is feck all wrong with him
rant over cheers guys

If he really had cracked ribs and that, he's gotta prove it of course and since he can't prove it, you have nothing to worry about.

he has to get a medical certificate or letter from the hospital or doctor to prove he has any injuries

Bet they will accuse you of racing.

It would be easy for him to get a doctors note to say he has wiplash or something, seen it happen too often, but as for the cracked ribs they would be harder to bluff.

what happened was a clio and a passat had crashed on the duel carrage way we were on my mate bumped his corsa into another mates omega haha then a car pulled out in front of the 106 he slowed down and i slammed my brakes on and hut an icy patch n slid rite into the bak of him.
i dont know how a subaru equivalates to a 106 but this 106 is insured under as a show car because it was built by peugeot ecosse. yeah sure is a great mate think ill be finding new mates now

Its doesnt really matter what he claims for does it, thats what you insurance is there for. Let him do what he wants, you'll still lose your no claims whether he claims for injury and damage, or just car damage.
I don't see what your problem is.
Possibly jealous he mite get more of a pay out or the fact he has a decent courtesy car?

Feck knows about the ins claim but id be none too happy about my insurance paying for him to yahoo about in an 08 impreza when he drives a 106. He should get given something like for like!!
Take some vids on your phone of him driving the hire car & that should stand up in court against any injury claim!!

tbh him claiming whiplash isn't going to come out of your pocket.
He might as well get as much as he can out the robbing bastards anyways!

Value of the accident matters alot over the next 5 years when you need to insure a car. I wouldnt be happy about getting done over if theres nothing wrong with him, jealousy doesnt enter here!!

What difference does it make what courtesy car he has been given, a friend of a friend wrote off his mk4 astra sri turbo and was given a top of the range land rover dicovery with 2k on the clock while he waited for his pay out. Like i said if he's your 'mate' then let him do what he wants, if he wants to run the risk of defrauding an insurance company then let him but by all means i wouldnt attempt to sabbotage his claim so to speak.

Not directly but 'some' insurance companies assess your premium, if youve had previous accidents according to the value of the accident.
For example -
106 repair, normal courtesy car, no injury claim = £2k?
106 repair, high spec courtesy car, big injury claim = £7k?
Guess which instance your going to have the higher premium with next time!
When I shunted my car, I took the option of no courtesy car for myself for this very reason.....to keep the cost to a minimum!!

Why should he be given like for like? define like for like? my dad was given a ford ka years ago when his TT was smashed up as an example.
Dont mean to sound horrible but you hit him, you caused the accident so why shouldnt you have to pay a bit more for a few years when you did someting wrong? Thats life....
