've just seen a mg zs180 in scooby blue colour, it was very nice. Nice interior, looks sporty, and had some sort of kit on it. 46k.03 plate. 3 grand. Was sweet. What are these like? Are they 1.8.s? Easy to tune. Very liking it at half my budget.

03 plate isnt the best looking model. Go for a facelift which is 04 onwards, much much better looking.

Supposed to handle really really well.

The engines are known to blow headgaskets though. Apparently replacing with a Land Rover part does the job though.

u2u 'Fonz', he's had 2. Both didn't end nicely (accidents) but he is the best person to ask.

At 46k, I'd say that has either blown, or about to blow the headgasket. The problem is to do with a rubbish cooling system or something.

They have a very very good rep about the handling. Steering feel and composure through corners is superb. The 180 doesnt have the headgasket problem, thats the 120 models with the 1.8 kseries engine. Though the headgaskets dont cost much to replace, some places now even offer a 2 or 3 year warranty on upgraded headgaskets for them. The problem with the kseries engine is that there is poor cooling on the head due to water starvation, so if coolant etc isnt kept an eye on they can turn into problems.
I have a 2005 MG ZS 120+ myself and for the price i dont think you can get better looks. Though i do agree with the point about interior quality, the boot carpet is a joke, but the seats are very nice and comfortable.

Heres a picture of mine, ZS 120 with factory fitted 180 bits.

Fonz's 180 blew a headgasket, and the 2nd he bought had already had it done iirc

The 180's are a 2.5 V6, wasn't Fonz's a 160 brake k-series?

ZS on the trader

They seem to be around that price if you can find them. My 120 cost 5250 on 03/2008 with 21k miles, worth less than 4 now, they are a very nice looking car for little cash.

Yes fonz would have had a ZR160 which is a tuned 1.8 kseries iirc. 2.5 180's dont have the problem as i think they are source from another manufacturer maybe?.
