Quick one as I'm not on long and this is going to take a while to unpick, but I've a few new bits of advice:

Get a picture. Broken camera, no camera or no pictures is a poor excuse and usually indicates something dodgy. Most instances of recent fraud have either omitted pictures or used someone elses, some actually foreign with foreign number plates in the background and yet people still bought bits?

Reply in the thread to say you're buying it. This stops multiple people handing over cash for the same things, none of which exists. In most instances of recent fraud, goods were advertised and numerous people all paid for the same part which of course never got delivered to anyone.

Get proper details. Rather an old one this but many people are still trading on trust and being had off. Frankly I've less sympathy with these people but that doesn't remove the fact that fraudsters the thieves are having an easy time of earning money because people are stupid, naive and trustworthy.

If it sounds dodgy, it is.

If you don't want to lose money, don't trade.

Do also bear in mind that while I'm very happy to help, I cannot and will not guarantee sorting things out for you and you may be left out of pocket unless you yourself are careful.

No, I would rather users looked after themselves as the priority.

I'm not making it a condition that pictures are posted, I'm just asking people to consider why there aren't any.

Not having pics on the ad isn't bad in itself so you can't delete them for that.

There are various reasons you might not have them at the time but can always send them later.

Why don't they put a piece of paper in with the item they are selling with their username on?

That's because you wouldn't generally post a car.

If i buy or sell through this site i always ask to put it through ebay then your covered. If you just send money with no information then your asking to be had for your pennies.

Putting it through ebay doesn't really offer anymore protection, i'd not be wanting to do that if I was selling something.

I'd sell it on ebay if I wanted to.

Fair enough, that's not always the case though.

I'm just looking at it from a sellers point of view, i'd not want to put it through ebay, doesn't mean i'm dodgy.

Allowing only prems to sell doesn't solve the problem.

Just because i'm a premium member doesn't mean that i couldn't scam people?

If people are out to scam people, paying £12.50 is nothing as they are likely to make more than that scamming people.

As for number of posts, just watch them type 'u2u'd' in a load of threads to get the post count up.

A bit unfair, I've bought and sold loads of items on here without a single issue. A trader rating would be a bit more helpful to weed out people with a bad history.

Prem status and post count don't mean a thing - both are easy to obtain.

Maybe bring in something like a sellers account, So they have to give an address and phone number which has to be confirmed before being able to post threads in the for sale area. I know its not fool proof but will cut the number of scammers down. Where theres money there crooks

I have had a issue with a user off here. Last i heard he was contacting royal mail to place a claim with them for the lights been damaged in transit. Thats the last i heard off him and despite him been a regular poster he has never replyed to any of my pm's.

He said to check the packing of the lights before they were signed for and imho the packaging was intact and undamaged yet the rear lights were cracked when opened.

He is a trusted user and yet seems to pretend he has not seen or read my u2u's.
