Went with my fiancee's brother as hes wanting one for himself. I tagged along as I like them aswell.

I got a good wee drive in it after he had went 1st & convinced himself he wants/needs one.

It was a black 2L TSi GT in black, with truffle leather.

I liked it quite a bit. Was nice to drive in traffic as it was on the by-pass/back roads.

Handles really well, much better than my mk4

I like the comfort/sport button aswell & could notice the difference in suspension hardness & throttle response.

Took it back to the garage & got finance figures & a cup of coffee & left.

Spec: Rising Blue, Black leather (because Truffle isnt an option ) Cruise, & Electric mirrors : £360 a month for 36 months with a £10k deposit.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Made my way to Ford next, as I am/was interested in this new 300bhp RS thats due out. Went in, & the customer service was somewhere between shoddy & abysmal.

The conversation went pretty much like:

<ME> Hi, im interested in the Ford Focus RS & was after some information/prices on it.
<SALESMAN> Oh right, well we dont know anything about it at all, except your too late if you want one as there all sold up to quarter 3 of 2009.
<ME> Oh well thats not very good, Ive just been to test drive a scirocco & the RS is the other car on my shortlist. I was hoping for one for summer at least.
<SALESMAN> Laughing, yeah well you should have come in sooner, orders went in in November.
<ME> I was in here September & told the same story about knowing nothing. No effort was made to note my interest then, as you had no info?
<SALESMAN> :Shrugs shoulders while grinning like a twat:
<ME> Anyway do you know if the dealerships getting a car.
<SALESMAN> Uh, no we dont know anything.
<ME> This car DOES come out in around 5 weeks time yes?
<SALESMAN> Well yes but the garage wont know yet what allocation its getting.
<ME> OooooKAY. Well do you know anything about finance/PCP plans on the car? Can you do it on the options scheme?
<SALESMAN> Erm, nooooo. We have no information.
<ME> Right ok, I see theres little interest in you wanting my money, & to be blunt if the cars anything like the customer service then it will be rubbish!
<ME> :Leaves under a cloud of smoke:

Looks like its another VW for me!!

Or possibly a Boxster S - Going to look at one of them tomorrow!

I hate salesmen like that I've walked out many a showroom even though I've had the money on a card to put down a deposit if someone looked remotly insterested in doing their job

2nd time ive been in asking. This time 5 weeks before its released & they know nothing? Ok fine i'll get something else.

I dont think id buy a Ford now, they just dont seem to know what there doing!! VW on the other hand, can get me pretty much any spec/colour within 16 weeks & seem genuine & interested in a sale.!!

I'd do the same. If they aren't even remotely interested in taking £25,000 from you, imagine what they'd be like if you had an issue with the car

yea, i was in a ford garage wit my mate who was gettin parts for his '87 XR2.

Whilst he was speaking to the guy, went and had a looksy at the new fiesta. Popped the bonnet and had a look there too.

Now im not a fan of new cars, and this thing is huge! For the 'small car' the engine bay is bigger than a cav's and the car itself was as big as the C-max it was parked next to! So, when marc came over and asked me why i was looking...(coz its shit)...i dropped the bonnet closed and went to leave.

The evil looks i got from every salesman there because i closed the bonnet astounded me...but i just chuckled...said loudly to marc 'i dont know why there's a clio in here anyways' and we left.

Even the sales men know the car is flimsy...so they dont want you poking around.

They really were shit, I knew more about the RS than them. Isnt the No1 rule of sales 'know your product' ?

Jades just phoned her Bro's ordered a Scirocco for 1st March delivery. Think I might join him!!

No theres pretty much only 1rule, and suprisingly the know your product probably wouldnt hit the top 10rules of sales

Basicly if he couldnt get you one for ages he would of known you werent going to buy so would of tried to sell you the next best thing, which he didnt so he just sounds like a chump

Ford just seemed so uninterested in a potential sale. I may have been prepared to put a deposit down today & wait for it if the had went to the effort of getting some figures.

Do they honestly expect to sell 4000 of these without offering would be buyers some info. I know there will be die hard RS fans that will order these regardless but that wont account for all of these.

Ford need a big kick up the arse if they want to attract customers, I for one wont be visiting that particular dealership again. Furthermore I probably wont consider a Ford again. I dont like to waste my time!!

They'll sell 4000 of them to people who will buy without knowing any info no bother, it's got an RS badge.

Doubtfull. The dedicated RS forums are awash with people that have placed deposits & are now pulling out.

Im not surprised.

Wooo Scirocco! Focus RS is covered in fake plastic grills. Tacky as fuck, saw it at Autosport show 2 weeks ago.

He will be lucky to get one before 1st March I would say, I waited almost 5 months but then mine has the Xenons.

Hes getting rising blue with black leather, elec mirrors, Cruise & parking sensors & it will be in the dealers in 2-3 weeks. He's waiting to reg it as an 09 though. You must have had yours ordered from factory!?

Do you know of any tunning options on the 2L GT? As im not sure id be happy with 200bhp for long if I get one.

Ah rite fair one, yeh mine was factory order, guess his is one of the stock ones? There are a few 2.0 GT's about with 10% off as they have the wrong wheels. They have the 17's from the poverty spec 1.4.

Milltek do a Cat Back already, don't think there are any remaps at the moment but all the major companies are on the case. To be honest it feels quicker than 200bhp imo, my mates dad has a TTS and he has driven both and can't tell much differance.

Yeah its one that came up on computer, has everything he wanted in the right colour so went for it.

Did you get any other options? Im liking the 6.5" touch control CD player you get standard on these

He mentioned £700odd off if you get one with 17's. That wouldnt bother me as im not 100% on the turbines. Like the idea of getting some other rims with the savings. Some 19's would be nice

Interested to see what sort of mapps you can get, is it the same engine as the Mk5 GTi?
