I know a few of the ford nuts are on here so i'm lookin for as much info as possible about these

I know there still holding there money and that they're gettin on abit now but I have seen one local to me lately and its bloody nice and very quick as well

Would £10k buy you a MINT one or is more money required???

There is one for £14k on PF just now with an insane engine list, basically a race engine (nearly 500bhp) but what I would be lookin for is a very relaible (day to day) 350bhp.

Whats the best model to buy???

Do you think its worth seling the LCR for one???

Like I say they hold there money well so the resale would be good and I dont see anyone with one loosing out much cash if any at all.

If you want to use it everyday be prepared for exceptionally high insurance, attempted theft and rember most of them are pushing towards the 16 year old mark now so reliability can be questionable.

I would always buy an enthusiasts one from the RSOC too.

A mate of mine was rebuilding one for a customer and his words were rebuild then as and when you can as they need looking after!

I would of thought buy a unmodded one be more reliable for daily use rather than a super modeed 1 that gona break down every 2mins

The main thing to look for these days IMO, is rust.

To good to use everyday, can't take it Tesco and expect to find it there when you come back.

There what 15-ish years old now? Any car that age is going to cost lots to maintain never mind a performance one.

Id say get the cleanest one you can, spanding more if need be, as a cheaper on could cost you as much if not more putting right.

It's a Sierra with an Escort sat on top, it's hardly 'too good to use every day' tbh.

I've never understood why anyone would consider buying a car and not using it

They're not exactly unreliable, unless they're running silly power (and even then, they're not all unreliable)

They might not be the most secure car in the world, but then no car of that age is, and it's easily sorted with a decent alarm and some delocking.

colin its a rare car, which would get stolen in around 5 seconds

i would feel gutted leaving it in a car park to come back to someone having denting it

i would feel gutted driving it in the winter with all the shit on the road

remember you cant get any body panels really these days either, so any knock would be a nightmare

Not an issue with using it everyday, but it's an old Ford of that era and like you say basically a Sierra which means rust.

if you want a minter you can kiss goodbye to almost 20k they can be used as everyday cars but its not advisable as they are quite expensive to run and to fix. lovely cars to drive tho and they do look the nuts

Bloke who used to do paintwork for me used to use one as his every day car, in fact his wife used it every day to go to work, in any weather.

Thefts not as rife up here as your way imo. Plus with a good security system then no one will be able to take it unless they come during the night for the keys.

Just can't understand for the life of me why someone would spend 20k on an Escort.

They looked gash when they came out, and even worse now. If that spoiler didn't come with a Cosworth badge people would piss themselves over it. Save your money IMO.

IMO i dont see that as a valid argument

for example its like saying why spend 30k on an m3 when you can get a 316 for 8k

just because its an escort, doesnt mean its worth £500

I didn't say it's worth £500. I just think they are vastly over priced, I can slightly understand a 3 door commanding a premium maybe, but not the Escort. Everyone has different opinions, but I could personally list about 100 cars for 20k I would rather own.
