Had the polo painted and the side reps removed while they were at it.
Just took a few pics while i was out n about.

Still running the trims until i decide on a set of wheels, interior bits are away for flocking and some recaro pole seats shall be on order soon.

looks smart, id probably leave the trims too. what is up with the bonnet around the headlights?

its tape, to stop stone chipping. (here goes the abuse)

Itl maybe stop the stone chipping but what happens when you remove the tape and the paint is a different shade to the car??

it wont be, its waxed under there, and the tape was recommended by the bodyshop i used, i asked about that and it pulling the paint off. they said it wont

it wont be a different shade, the tape is designed for teh job, bieran i take ityou found a green tape as it usualy blue 3m stuff?

If the tape blocks sunlight and weather it'll clearly be a different colour underneath when you take it off.

Not after 2 weeks though, would take a lot longer than that for the rest of the paint to fade.

And why is it only on the bonnet??What about the front bumper and the sides of the car??Surely they will be affected by stones and other objetcs??

bumper is plastic, doesnt rust like a bonnet would if it was chipped do death.

wings arent at all that badly effected by it, or mine havent been so didnt bother. may do when i do a treck to shows etc

its only where it sticks right up that i noticed pal but now you have said you can kinda see a slight difference in colour in a thin strip all the way along lol.

I just dont see the point of doing 1 bit when the rest of the car is on show and anything could happen at anytime.

Probably because the paint is very thin on the edges of panels compared to the rest of the panel. And with the bonnet being right at the front its far more likely to chip along there.

P.S Bodyshop that done my car did the same and was left on for two weeks

Yeah but anything could happen while its parked up.I just dont see the point trying to prevent something happening,that could easily happen when the car isnt even moving.
I know the bonnet is the most likely place for stone chips,but just got to think out the box sometimes.

stone chips while its not moving? like a boulder fall on it?

at least it helps prevent it whilst on the move, as id class someone scratching/denting it, when its parked up say, a different thing all together.

But at the end of the day its still unwanted exterior damage no matter what causes it.
