The octavia's are good cars, 124k isn't really that much more than 88, 88 just sounds a lot better.

I'm not sure what yours is worth but i'd say 2800 is optomistic for his with that mileage so base any decisions on that.

The arse has fell out of the Mondeos so its not worth that much over £2k , I also think hes optimistic with his pricing

Depends whether you will need to get rid of the octavia quick, it'll probably be quite hard to sell on with that mileage unless you take rock bottom for it.

If you'll be trading it in for instance why not.

I would, his is worth slightly more and as you fancy a change, this is the best way as it's simply a case of swapping insurance over, no money changes hands

The high mileage would especially put me off in that situation.

This will soon be full of people saying that the engines can go on for 7 million miles, which might be true but the rest of the car has still done 124k.

Things will be needing replaced and you'll only be increasing the mileage.

I know what you mean John, it is a tad off putting but I'm just thinking that the value of the Mondeo is dropping all the time, 6 months they where fetching £2700 at the least, a year ago I paid £4k for it! Been offered a lot of cars for it, this is the only one thats tempted me... well apart from a R33 but the Insurance is sky high and I couldnt live with one in reality!

FSH - mileage shouldn't concern you too much.

I'd do the swap, tidy the VRs up and sell it on.

VRs are tha bit *more* desirable than the Mondeo's are, similar ones to yours are going for £2k or so.

If I was to swap though I would possibly keep the VRs, always really liked them, and for the price range, theres not much else I can get in a similair league? I did want a Golf Turbo but they are fetching just that bit too much at the moment, also I dont want to put anymore money to a car...

If your Mondeo isn't letting you down and is running fine etc, I probably wouldn't swap.

I bought it and was using it as a taxi though, with it being taxi miles I think the clutch is on the way out which is a £600 job, its due it soon anyway imo, and it bores the shit out of me, I really do want to get rid of it now, just not sure what for... I know I wont get cash my way for it as he "thinks" his is worth £2800 and Mondeos are making nowhere near that, thats Ghia X money. Im very tempted by this...
