Thinking of changing my car to something that would be better to put the girlfriend on the insurance (she is a learner), the thing is it would be my main car still, so couldn't live with something painfully slow and I also wouldn't want something that looked full on poverty spec.
Just thinking out load at the minute, but can't really think of anything apart from a little clio (not the newest shape, budget is 2.5k)
Any ideas?

I have a little yaris t-sport as well as the puma.
Both are great and would recommend either.

Really good shout the Yaris, just had a look at the stats and reviews, going to have a look at prices later. Not keen on the mg's.

1.2's aren't that bad, obviously aren't breaking any land speed records but they are much better to drive than the 1.0 litres.

Agree with john although when you go in a 1.0 then in to a 1.2 twinport its like a rocket

Would be 1.4 petrol or 1.7 diesel if going corsa. Think I need to see what damage will be adding a learner. Anyone any experience of that?

Learners aren't normally too bad, especially female ones, it goes up when they pass though.

As a minus note, and these things don't bother me, but would some.
- They rattle like fuck, everywhere, dash, door, boot - all common.
- Often get a really annoying squeek from the rear wheel.
- bonnet gets stone chips easy, on my black one its very noticable.
- its very very noisy on the motorway, sounds like it needs an extra gear, as 70/80 sits quite high in the rev range.
And its nippy, but not quick, and doesn't always feel too good cornering at speed.
However day to day its great, certainly not "slow", and in general the handling is good, as long as don't forget its not a hot hatch!
