ant I had the diablis one. Did the job and raised it to 7800. Got it from warren.

As long as you have the ECU with the removable flap/chips you can fit one

Are there two different X16XE ECU's then? How do you know the difference?

as i told you before, keep the 1.6 ecu you had and get a early loom instead

then you can get a chip (like gavins) for £45 on ebay with raised rev limit

for the cheap option

now you have to pay big bucks to get a proper remap

Waza show me these chips? I'm not sure what loom and ECU I've got, I have got a spare ECU and loom though, not sure if they are different or not.

c16xe - bigger box, blue and red plugs i think

x16xe, 2 variants

red/cream plugs early, single wire knock sensor ecu (removeable chips, easy to 'chip')

red/white plugs, later, two wire knock sensor ecu (no chips to remove, have to be flashed to the erpom chip)

Robhayes ran his 16XE at 7800rpm for months and it was fine, mine (and broster's) used to take 7200rpm daily, and broster's went on to take 8500rpm with ARP rod bolts and that was it)

They're very strong engines.

and are these the chips in question?

The later ecu's dont have removeable chips and have to be flashed through the diagnostics port.
My 1997 x16xe ecu was flashed by superchips, but has a normal rev limit as i guess the person that had it done didnt say he wanted a higher limit so they left it.
