i have downloaded an .exe file from a website but when i try to run it i get the message :........... is not a valid win32 application. i searched on google for help as i'm turd with computers. apparently it means the file is corrupt and it suggested deleting and re-downloading. i have done this 3 time now and still get the same message when i try to run it. am i doing something wrong?

If it's a legit file it's most likely either 16 bit or 64 bit.

It's probably old and is 16bit, what OS are you using?

no just that one.
the software is for a bit of kit that i ordered for a machine at work. they sent me disk with it but it is not the correct one. i asked them about it and they said just DL it from our website. i've told him i want the correct disk sending by recorded delivery but i really want the equipment running tonight if pos....

It's hard to tell exactly what it is without seeing the file.

not according to the user manual. it says win98/NT/2000/XP compatible.
someone has just told me to clear my browsers cache and download it again.....what the hell does that mean?

I take it they mean delete all your internet files/cookies etc, I would say thats a stupid idea but clearing cookies has been known to fix a multitude of problems so i'll not comment.

Not definitely but if it says it's compatible with XP then there is a good chance it is.
